What a great day so far!
Rob has eaten two very little, very normal meals, and he savors every bite! His energy level is great, in regards to staying awake longer, and he's even sitting up in bed reading his book today! Progress!
Rob is going to be staying here again tonight, and will head home tomorrow, instead. Reintroducing real food into the body can cause the intestines to shut down (ileus) after any major surgery. And because he already suffered through paralytic ileus (an intestinal obstruction that is a complication of abdominal surgery), he is at a higher risk of developing this again. They said if they send him home, he may just be back in the ER later tonight. We DO NOT want that!!!
We should know if there are going to be complications by late evening.
So we're not taking a chance.
It's just another day.
