Oh, What a Beautiful Morning!

We are *HOME* now!

Doctors discharged Rob just after noon yesterday, and we were SO happy!  And tired... :)  Rob is moving slowly, but he is moving.  He is stapled shut from his belly button to his pubic bone, and still has a healing pelvic drainage hole, both of which opened a bit from wearing his jeans home.  But once we were in the door, Rob got comfy in his pajamas, and we just sat and smiled at each other for a while.  And our cat, Gypsy, could hardly contain herself, seeing her Master (servant) return!

I am so thankful to my sister, Carol, and her hubby, Pat, for taking such good care of our Darby-girl for the nine days we were at the hospital.  Carol and her husband are very active in the Humane Society, have hearts open wide for animals, and are raising four pets of their own, so we knew Darby would be well taken care of.  Carol brought Darby home yesterday afternoon, and we have our family unit intact once again.  Ahhhh...

We spent yesterday catching up on a few television shows we missed (love the DVR), and had a bite to eat.  Then we sat next to each other, held hands, and fell sound asleep.

Rob slept so peacefully throughout the night, just waking moments ago.  He called me in to tell me he had dreams all night long.  Some were good, some were a little scary, some with offbeat humor, but he was happiest of all that none had doctors or nurses!  He is in a happy and hopeful frame of mind, right where he needs to be.

We have a few adjustments to make within our home... like furniture and clothing.  But it's all good. God is providing for us where we're not able to, and we know that in all situations, in all ways, that we have everything we need.

We have four home nurse visits scheduled, the first of which is Monday.  We are so thankful to Beaumont Hospital for approving these for us.  So thankful!  I want to keep him walking, so on good days it will be around our block.  On snowy or cold days, it will be at Meijer.  Rob agreed, as long as we only WALK at Meijer, and not SHOP!  :)

There is much healing to be done.  Life is forever different for us now.  There are going to be good days, and there are going to be rough days, but we have love on our side, and we have God watching over us.  We have family and friends surrounding us, helping us, and praying for us.  And we can ask for nothing more.  We are wrapped tightly in it all, and overwhelmed with blessings.

Rob wanted me to let you know that he'll pop in here for a word or two in a few days, maybe even this weekend if he's up to it.  He wants to thank you himself, for all that you've done to make these dark days so much brighter than we could have imagined.

I will continue to post our days throughout the healing part of this journey, and when pathology report comes in.  One day at a time. :)

So we bid you a blessed day, and pray that you are happy and healthy, and thankful for all that surrounds you.

We certainly are.

In Love and In Peace,

Cheri
